We welcome teams from all over Aotearoa to participate in this event held in our stunning playground nestled in the Kaipara region, which includes both the Mangawhai estuary and for those feeling adventurous, across the bar and along the Mangawhai Heads surf beach into the expansive Bream Bay area.
Our race weekend offers a variety of competitions for all levels of paddlers and provides a warmup opportunity before the Long Distance Nationals event in Wellington. The event is a full day of fun racing, spot prizes and prize giving.
We welcome you and your whānau to join us for this event.

EVENT INFORMATION
Recruiting paddlers
Teams without enough paddlers for the 12-person relay can recruit other paddlers from outside their club—check our Facebook page posts to connect
Parking
Car and trailer parking is available at the Campbell Park Youth Camp (corner of North Ave and Molesworth Dr). Street signage will advertise this and parking wardens will be directing traffic. 5 minute walk to estuary/campground.
There will also be limited parking for trailers at the Mangawhai Heads Holiday Park off Mangawhai Heads Road.
Bus Transfer
Is available as part of your relay entry, please specify during registration if you need to use the bus.
Food
Kai is available as part of your race entry. Coffee carts available at Mangawhai and Waipu Cove.
Toilets
Toilets are located at Sellars reserve (end of North ave), and at the Mangawhai Boating and Fishing Club .
First Aid
First Aid will be available at the Mangawhai Boating and Fishing Club and Waipu Surf Club .
Rubbish/Recycling
We encourage you to please take what you bring. However, the main rubbish and recycling station is located by the Mangawhai Boating and Fishing Club.
Alcohol/Smokefree
Alcohol, smoking, vaping and any other substance use is not permitted at this event, including all premises of the event.
WAKA DROP-OFF AND SAFETY CHECKS
Waka Drop off
Waka drop off will be available from Friday from 5.00pm to 7.00pm and 7.00am Saturday on the event day. Waka drop off will be at the Mangawhai Heads Holiday Park and rigging on the beach front landing
Safety Checks
All waka will have to pass a safety check and be marked before racing.
Any boats not marked will not be permitted to race
