Nau mai, haere mai, welcome to Mangawhai Waka Ama.
Mangawhai Waka Ama was established in late 2016 and is Northland’s newest waka ama (outrigger canoe) club. We are still in our humble beginnings, with 1 (sometimes 2) borrowed W6 waka – but we have all the gear to get people out on the water.
In the summer of 2017/2018 we will promote our club locally to encourage more members and compete in a number of regional events. This summer will also involve setting up our junior development and applying for funding to purchase our own waka, transport and more safety equipment.
Please do not hesitate to contact us – we are a friendly bunch!
See you on the water!
Where are We?
We are located on Sellars Reserve at the end of North Ave (southern end of the car park).
What Do We Have To Offer?
Our outrigger canoe club caters for all ages and abilities – from those who wish to paddle competitively to social paddlers, from novices to the elite who train to compete at national and international levels.
Having fun is important to us as well as to maintaining a supportive, inclusive club whānau. We will have regular picnics, BBQs as well as heading away to events together.
We are also open to facilitating paddling opportunities for a range of community, business and school groups.
